The University of Wyoming Flute Studio is a creative, ambitious, and supportive group of students who excel musically and academically.  Areas of concentration run the gamut from performance to music education to musicology and ethnomusicology, but all students also train to be successful flutists.

We meet every Monday evening from 6-7pm for group studio class.  This allows time to connect at the beginning of each week, learn musical concepts and flute repertoire as a group, practice performance skills in front of each other, and host guest artists in masterclass.

In 2009 alone, we hosted the contemporary chamber group eighth blackbird and Dr. Nicole Molumby, flute professor at Boise State University.  Flutist and composer Jennifer Higdon will be in residence at UW and Richard Sherman will give a guest masterlass and recital in 2010.

2009 also marks the opening year for Flute Studio Outreach, a UW campus organization led by the flute studio team. FO’s outreach division specializes in interactive concerts and educational outreach in community schools, nursing homes, mentally handicapped organizations, and K-6 after-school programs. The enrichment division specializes in bringing exceptional artists for master classes and performances and reaching out to prospective students.
